Nine lawmakers plead fake degree cases

The hearing regarding fake/invalid degrees of nine senators, MNA's and MPA's was held on Monday under the Chairmanship of Muhammad Afzal Khan. Abdul Samad Akuhnzada MPA (PB-7) appeared in person and presented relevant documents and Court's judgements. He was informed by the Committee that the name of Madrassah from where he has got his certificate is not recognised with HEC.
The Committee, therefore, advised him to provide credible defence in the matter and fixed December 20, 2010 as next and final date of hearing. Molvi Haji Rozi Uddin MNA (NA-262) appeared in person, submitted the relevant documents and pleaded his case. The Committee advised him to provide suitable defence and documents and fixed December 20, 2010 as next and final date of hearing.
An Advocate appeared on behalf of Yar Muhmmad Rind MPA (PB-31) and requested for adjournment on the grounds that a case of Yar Muhmmad Rind was pending in the Lahore High Court (LHC). The Committee asked him to provide written reply and relevant documents/judgements. His next date of hearing is December 6, 2010. For Ijaz Ahmed MPA (PP-209), a junior Advocate appeared and presented some court's judgements. He also requested for adjournment on the grounds that senior counsel of Ijaz Ahmed is unable to appear before the Committee due to dengue fever, therefore, the case may be adjourned. The Committee decided to ask the relevant Madrassah for clarifying the position and fixed December 13, 2010 as the final date of hearing.
A representative of Mir Ahmedan Khan MNA (NA-265) appeared before the Committee and requested for adjournment due to non-availability of Mir Ahmedan Khan. The Committee adjourned the case and fixed December 20, 2010 as next date of hearing.
For Molvi Obaidullah (KPK-61), his brother Mahboobullah, MNA representative appeared and requested for adjournment. The Committee fixed December 13, 2010 as next and final date of hearing.
Khalifa Abdul Qayyum MPA (KPK-64), Malak Iqbal Ahmed Langriyal MPA (PP-226) and Wali Muhammad, Senator from Balochistan remained absent and the Committee decided to issue them final notices for December 13, 2010 failing which the cases will be closed and sent to Chief Election Commissioner.-PR
