'Ulema should play role to set up society based on religious harmony'

Senior Adviser to Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa has said that Ulema and Mashaikh should play an active role in the setting up of a society based on religious harmony, tolerance and social equality. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of Sunni Ittehad Committee here on Monday.
Provincial Minister for Auqaf Haji Ehsaan Uddin Qureshi, Member Provincial Assembly Syed Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Secretaries of Law, Home and Auqaf as well as members of Ittehad Committee Haji Muhammad Hanif Tayyab, Maulana Ghulam Muhammad Sialvi, Pir Amin-ul-Hasnat Shah, Maulana Mufti Raghab Naeemi, Muhammad Athar-ul-Qadri, Mian Khalid Habeeb Advocate and others were also present on the occasion.
The Ulema of Sunni Ittehad assured the government of their co-operation with regard to ensuring religious peace and harmony. Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa said that Ulema have great respect throughout the world and we have to promote the concept of love, brotherhood and mutual tolerance for the establishment of peace in the world. He said that Sufi saints spread the same message. He said that Islam teaches the lesson of peace, harmony and equality among the masses and by following in the footsteps of Sufi saints we should create an atmosphere of amity and tranquillity.
