Shujaat disowns Hiraj's appointment as ERRA chief

Pakistan Muslim League-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussein has held the PPP-led coalition government responsible for delay in the adoption of new accountability bill. Talking to reporters at the residence of PML-Q Secretary General Mushahid Hussein Sayed here on Tuesday.
Shujaat said that former President Pervez Musharraf should have replied the 32-point questionnaire regarding investigation into the assassination of former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. "If this questionnaire was sent to Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, he (Elahi) would also give strong reply," he added.
When asked about appointment of PML-Q legislator Hamid Yar Hiraj as Chairman of the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA), the PML-Q President said that no consultation was made by the government with his party prior to making this appointment. Disowning Hiraj's appointment, Shujaat said the issue had never been taken up in his contacts with Prime Minister, if any.
"It is absolutely baseless that Hamid Yar Hiraj has been appointed as Chairman of the ERRA as a result of deal with the government in pursuance of Babar Awan's visit to his house," he said. He asked the government to respect the mandate of others and avoid taking such steps. He said similar attempts were already made and a few of our legislators accepted such offices in their personal capacities.
