'Government inaction against drone attacks shameful'

24 Nov, 2010

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said that the failure of the government to lodge any meaningful protest at any level on any international platform against the ceaseless and progressively increasing violation of Pakistan's Sovereignty on the part of the invading and death-delivering US drones, is in the least shameful and disgusting.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he said apart from flouting our national sovereignty and honour with unchallenged abandon the CIA-operated drones are also engaged in an un-repenting and relentless crime against humanity, as is evident from the appalling number of civilian causalities being caused by what is clearly blind bombing of the civilian areas.
Even though the frequent pretext for these murderous operations is the pursuit of terrorists, thousands of families in the FATA, mourning the loss of their near and dear ones, are a living testimony to the extrajudicial killings and genocidal butchery in which our American 'friends' are engaged, not without the tacit connivance of our own rulers, he added.
It is time that the highest forum of Justice in Pakistan should take up this grave and disturbing issue of the continuous rape of Pakistan's sovereignty as well as of the mounting death toll of innocent civilians whose only crime happens to be that the responsibility of guarding their lives and security lies with a bunch of soulless traders who call themselves the government of Pakistan.-PR
