Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmad Ghani on Tuesday stressed need for developing lockers facilities at the airports to enable gemstone buyers to deposit their material, bringing along and take that back on their return. He was talking to a 15-member delegation, comprising office bearers and members of All Pakistan Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) called on him here at Governor's House, Peshawar on Tuesday.
The delegation put forward certain suggestions for promotion of trade and exports in gemstone sector. He appreciated the services being rendered by APCEA for promotion of trade and exports as well as its keen interest in strengthening the Gems and Gemological Institute of Pakistan and assured to contact the concerned circles at the federal level to materialise the suggestions.
He particularly referred to working of GGIP and said, "no doubt it is a model institute which has given outstanding return since its creation and deserves to be encouraged and further developed". He expressed the confidence that the TDAP would be able to help the exporters and buyers of gemstones particularly in developing lockers facility at the Peshawar Airport on priority basis.
