24 Nov, 2010

Persons involved in objectionable wall-chalking, posters, banners and other such material would be dealt according to the law while the persons violating measures taken for maintaining religious harmony, brotherhood, tranquillity and peace would also be dealt with iron hands.
This was stated by Divisional Commissioner Faisalabad, Tahir Hussain while presiding over a meeting of Divisional Intelligence Committee, in which RPO Aftab Cheema and relevant officers participated. The meeting reviewed various proposals for maintaining peace during Muharram-ul-Harram in the light of information received from intelligence agencies and threats of anti-state elements.
Tahir directed DCOs and DPOs to convene meetings of peace committees in their respective districts immediately and stressed that in this regard, active representatives of civil societies and religious personalities should be mobilised. It was decided in the meeting that the licence holders of Muharram processions and Majalis should remain till culmination of such events. The commissioner directed the officers of law enforcement agencies and DCOs/DPOs to finalise the lists of 'fiery speakers'. The meeting also reviewed security arrangements made by law enforcement agencies for shrines, religious and sensitive places and important personalities.
