Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Owais Ahmad Ghani has asked Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) for preparing of concrete proposals to remove the apprehensions of the business community with regard to Pakistan-Afghanistan Transit Trade Agreement.
Talking to a 24-member delegation of Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), which called on him here at Governor's House on Wednesday, he assured that such proposals will definitely be given due consideration at the respective levels. The delegation led by president, SCCI, Usman Bashir Bilour apprised the governor about their efforts for economic revival and promotion of trade and business activities in the province especially the provincial capital.
The Governor welcomed the courageous response of the trade and business community of the province in the post-floods and militancy and terrorism situation and assured every possible support to ensure result oriented measures to put the economy of the province on fast track development process.
Referring to various proposals put forward by the Chamber for further strengthening the ongoing efforts of the government in this respect, the Governor also appreciated the approach of the chamber for making institutionalised arrangements under the aegis of the Chamber and said, "indeed development of institutional mechanism within the ambit of the chamber is the right step to further strengthen co-ordination with the respective government institutions for ensuring timely implementation on its initiatives".
Responding to a request to help in expediting implementation on certain parts of the financial support package announced by the Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani some time back for the business community as relief as well as economic revival in the province, the Governor appreciated the spirit of patience and forbearance of the business community and assured to contact the concerned quarters at the Federal level to resolve the grievances.
Meanwhile, the president of SCCI Usman Bashir Bilour and other members of the delegation thanked the respective circles of both the federal and provincial governments, especially the Prime Minister for implementation on the financial support package. However, they also pin pointed its certain points, especially with regard to waivers announced in respect of certain loans and subsidies and requested the Governor to help in expediting the measures in this respect.
