National Highways and Motorway Police (NH&MP) has recovered four stolen/snatched vehicles and arrested a lady among five car lifters in last two days, said Javed Chaudhry spokesperson of the NH&MP. Talking to Business Recorder Javed Chaudhry said that Motorway Police was informed by Islamabad Police that a Suzki Mehran Car No RPT-1515, model 1993 has been stolen from the jurisdiction of Shalimar police station, Islamabad and Motorway Police may help in recovering the car.
On receiving the information, all patrolling vehicles of NH&MP were got alerted. After few minutes, the Motorway Police officers PO Gulzar Arshad and PO Abid Shah stopped the car on Motorway (M-1) in the area of Charsadha and arrested the two car lifters Afzaal Ahmed s/o Haji Iqbal r/o Rawalpindi and Atif s/o Liaqat Ali r/o Abbottabad, Javed added.
Javed Chaudhry further said that in a second incident an Inspector of NHA Muhammad Rafiq informed Motorway Police on NH&MP helpline 130 that Honda VTI Car No RLD-996, Model 2005 has been snatched on gun point from his driver from Fathe Jang and requested that Motorway Police may help in recovering the said car.
On receiving the information, the officers of Motorway Police PO Sabir Zaman and Hasrat Nawaz succeeded in stopping the said car on Motorway (M-1) near Rashakai interchange within 15 minutes, arresting a lady Shumaila Akhtar r/o Peshawar and two car lifters named Syed Jamal r/o Rawalpindi and Muhammad Irfan r/o Peshawar.
Spokesperson further said that in a third incident, PindiGheb Police informed Motorway Police that a white Shahzor Dalla has been stolen from Pindi Gheb, District Attock, which was signaled to stop by the Motorway Police officers PO Inayatullh on M-1 near Peshawar interchange, but instead to stop, the driver tried to escape, however, the officers of Motorway Police succeeded in arresting the culprit named Hayat Shah r/o Mardan.
Javed Chaudhry further said that in a fourth incident during routine patrolling on Motorway (M-2) in the area of Sukhekhe, the Motorway Police officers SPO Mumtaz Ahmed and PO Javed Raza saw a Honda car No GTK-312, Model 2003, which was parked at hard shoulder in the area of Sukhekhe and no one was present, after waiting for a long time, when no body came to the vehicle, the Motorway Police took the vehicle into its custody and searched it thoroughly. During search, a marriage card was found from it. When the Motorway Police officers contacted on the telephone number mentioned on the marriage card, the owner of vehicle told that the vehicle belongs to him which was stolen from Gulshan-e-iqbal, Lahore.
Later on, the Motorway Police handed over all the vehicles and arrested car lifters/snatchers to the concerned local police in presence of the owners of the vehicles for further legal action and investigation, he added. The Inspector General, NH&MP Dr Wasim Kausar has appreciated the performance of the officers and announced cash reward with CC-I who took part in these incidents, Javed maintained.
