Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 86,734 tonnes of cargo including 71,651 tonnes of import cargo, 15,083 tonnes of export cargo, 2,857 loaded and empty containers during last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 71,651 tonnes comprised of 21,058 tonnes of containerised cargo; 7,837 tonnes of general cargo; 5,000 tonnes of coal and 37,756 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 15,083 tonnes comprised of 8,737 tonnes of containerised cargo; 4,346 tonnes of bulk cargo: 2,811 tonnes of cement; 1,535 tonnes of rice and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. Four ships namely MT Karachi, Bux Melody, Samin-1 and APL Turquoise sailed out to sea during the reported period.
Six vessels viz Bavaria Express, Bux Melody, Magic Orient, Hong Virtue, Utopia Ace and Oriental Tulip are currently at the berth. Three ships namely APL Troubdour, Gulf Sieb and Bavaria Express expected to sail on Thursday, while another vessel viz Courier is expected to sail on Friday. Three vessels viz Dongbu Promy-1, STX Patraikos and Harmonia due to arrive on Thursday, while five ships namely CSL Ride, YM Asia, OEL Trust, CS Discovery and Thor Wind are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 55,917 tonnes includes 15,470 tonnes of furnace oil; 2,040 tonnes of LPG; 4,300 tonnes of palm oil; 9,835 tonnes of coal; 5,032 tonnes of sugar; 2,695 tonnes of chemicals and 16,545 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo includes 16,256 tonnes includes 1,402 tonnes of rice; 2,986 tonnes of cement and 11,868 tonnes of containerised cargo. Three container vessels viz CV Nedlloyd Tasman, CV Aruni Rickmers and CV CMA CGM Jade sailed out to sea during last 24 hours, while another ship namely MT Silva Coral is expected to sail on Thursday.
A total number of eleven ships namely CV Aruni Rickmers, CV CMA CGM Jade, Captain Wael, MV Hae Song, MV Alexi-1, MV Orbit, MV SC Dong Hai, MT Al-Noof, MT Kasugta, MT Silva Coral and MV YM Asia are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, edible oil, sugar, furnace oil, chemicals, LPG and coal respectively.
Four vessels viz NYK Kai, Four Bay, BM Challenge and Rehmeh-1 carrying containers, furnace oil and rice are currently at the outer anchorage. A total number of two container ships namely CV NYK Kai and CV HS Beet Hoven are expected to take berths at Container Terminal on Thursday. Three container ships namely CV Al-Sabahia, CV Al-Rayyan and CV Nedlloyd Drake are due to arrive.
