A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court challenging the appointment of Maulana Muhammad Khan Sherani as Chairman Islamic Ideology Council (IIC). The petition was filed by Nazir Ahmad Ranjha through his counsel Muhammad Ahsan Bhoon contending that the respondent was appointed on November 22, last as IIC Chairman for a period of three years.
The counsel pointed out that members of the council are appointed for a period of three years and Maulana Sherani has been enjoyed his half tenure of one and a half year as member of the council as he was appointed member of the council on May 6, 2009.
