Nayyar Zaidi, President, Pasban-e-Aza, was gunned down by unknown armed men in Chanesar Goth area here on Monday. According to reports, Nayyar Zaidi left his house in Mehmoodabad No 04, and when he reached the railway crossing in Chanesar Goth area, some unknown armed men intercepted him and opened fire on his car, killing him on the spot.
However, his nephew, who was also with him, escaped the attack unharmed. Police rushed to the spot and shifted his body to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy and later handed over to heirs.
The funereal prayer of the deceased was offered at Masjid-e-Erum, Mehmoodabad and he was laid to rest in Wadi-e-Hussain Graveyard. Officials in Mehmoodabad police station told Business Recorder that unknown armed pillion riders attacked Zaidi with SMG. Police had drawn the sketches of the attackers with the help of the victim's nephew.
