Exportable products: 'RGST to be last nail in the coffin'

01 Dec, 2010

President Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) Ghulam Mustafa Choudary has said that brining of leather, surgical, sportswear, sports goods and textile sectors into RGST net would be last nail in the coffin of exports. Talking to media here on Tuesday he said exporting industry was already facing serious problems due to economic and energy crisis and inclusion of these sectors in RGST net at this juncture would be detrimental for the export of the country.
The prices of raw material would be increased to manifolds with implementation of RGST while the exports would be reduced, Ghulam Mustafa pointed out. The SCCI President further said that imposition of sales tax refund on exporting industry would create awful situation because it would open new ways of corruption. The SCCI President demanded the zero rating status of sales tax on exportable products should be maintained for protecting the export sector of the country.
