LHC disposes of suo motu proceedings

The Lahore High Court Chief Justice here Tuesday disposed of suo motu proceedings about death of an elderly lady Ghulam Ayesha (60) of Bahawalnagar, who allegedly died due to police torture. Earlier, Bahawalnagar district police officer appeared before the court and informed that one out of three nominated accused in case FIR had been arrested. He said the arrested namely Muhammad Ismail was on judicial remand while efforts were being made to arrest the remaining.
He further told the court that final cause of death of the deceased lady would be given after receiving reports from chemical examiner and histopathologist. Chief Justice while disposing of the suo motu directed Bahawalnagar sessions judge to proceed on the matter in the light of the final post-mortem report, when received.
