The Anti-Terrorist Court resumed hearing of the high-profile case pertaining to assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and after reviewing the challan presented by prosecution, issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Saud Aziz and Khurram Shahzad.
The court also summoned Aziz and Shahzad to appear in upcoming hearing on December 11. The Defence Counsel pleaded before the court that since former CPO Saud Aziz and former SP Rawal Town Khurram Shahzad were declared innocent during a previous FIA investigation, the court may relieve them from appearing on the next hearing. The learnt judge rejected the plea of the counsel and issued non-bailable arrest warrants. The court adjourned the hearing till December 11 and summoned the police officials as accused in the case.
Later talking to reporters, prosecution lawyer Chaudhry Azhar said the court would proceed on chargesheets filed against the officials on the next hearing. He said Aziz has been blamed for hand in not letting the doctors to conduct Benazir Bhutto's post-mortem.
Earlier, Anti-Terrorist Court issued the non-bailable arrest warrants for FIA Investigation Officer for using delaying tactics in presenting the challan before the court. On this, the FIA presented the challan in the court in which nothing was stated in case of Saud Aziz and Khurram Shahzad.
