IDPs families back to South Waziristan: under UNHCR umbrella 41

The return of internally displaced people (IDPs) started to South Waziristan with collaboration of UNHCR and Fata Disaster Management Authority on Saturday. The first convey of 41 families returned to their home on Saturday for which UNHCR arranged transportation, tents, plastic sheets and non-food assistance.
Over all 8,000 families will return under this volunteerism return from D I Khan and Tank district. An UNHCR spokesperson said two transit camps have been set up at D I Khan and Tank to facilitate IDPs to return to their areas. UNHCR is also providing overnight stay and food at transit camps. Moreover, World Food Programme (WFP) will provide food for about 3 months and UNHCR will provide tents for schools for returning IDPs. According to return intention survey carried out by UNHCR 75 percent IDPs have expressed willingness to return to their villages in South Waziristan.
