Power bills: 'late payment charges should be cut to one percent'

Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has suggested that late payment charges of electricity bills are 10 percent, saying these need to be reduced to one percent.
The industrial, investment and privatisation sub committee of KCCI in its report noted that Pakistan has high electricity tariff as compared to India, China, and Bangladesh. It should be brought at part with other regional countries. The committee demanded that import of all types of generation be allowed at zero rate. It said that regular increase in gas and electricity tariffs is adversely hitting industries and also increasing cost of doing business, declining Pakistan's export graph.
