President Mirpurkhas Press Club and senior journalist Sultan Mehmood Chandio was killed in firing outside his house in Al-Imran Town phase-II in the limits of Town police station here on Sunday.
Police said, Sultan Mehmood Chandio was injured seriously in the firing and was rushed to Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas where he succumbed to his injuries. He was 40-year-old. After the assassination of Sultan Chadndio, journalists' community of Mirpurkhas, including National Press Club and Mirpurkhas Press Club reached to hospital and protested against the assassination of Sultan Mehmood Chandio.
The district administrator Ghulam Hussain Memon, DPO Mirpurkhas along with contingents of police rushed to hospital and enquired about the matter. The body of Mehmood Sultan Chandio was shifted to his home. His Nimaz-e-Janaza was attended among others by Journalists, politicians, relatives, friends and a laerge number of people. He was laid to rest in local graveyard.
