50 pro-government tribal elders killed in Ghalanai explosions

At least 50 people were killed and more than 60 others were injured in two blasts on Monday near the office of the Political Agent at Ghalanai, headquarters of the Mohmand Agency. According to reports reaching here from Ghalanai, hospital sources confirmed loss of 40 lives in the incident. Condition of 20 injured was stated to be critical.
According to political administration, the suicide bomber was overpowered before the attack. However, he detonated the explosive tied with his body. This was followed by another blast. Shams-ul-Islam, an official of the political administration, said that the explosions were carried out outside the office of the political agent. The victims of the blast, he said, were members of the peace committee from Khoizai and other people of the area.
A large number of people were present in the office of the political agent and there were fears of increase in the number of casualties. After the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area while volunteers were busy in shifting the injured persons to hospitals.
Ambulances of the Rescue 1122 were rushed to Shabqadar for shifting the injured people to Peshawar. Vehicles of Edhi Foundation and Al-Khidmat Foundation were handling the injured to the ambulances of Rescue 1122. The Rescue 1122 sent 10 emergency medical technicians to Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) to help the hospital crew in handling and providing treatment to the suicide bombing victims of Ghalanai Mohmand Agency.
