Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced a new schedule for the gas load management for industrial sector according to which gas load shedding may increase to three days a week for three months of winter starting from December 1, 2010.
Company official Imtiaz disclose this while talking to Business Recorder on Monday. He said company has an agreement of nine months with the industrial sector but despite the agreement all out efforts are made to supply gas to the industrial units during the period when there is no load management in respective zone. Despite above conditions, SNGPL is trying to accommodate industrial sector by closing this sector for 2 days a week, which may increase to 3 days a week depending upon the weather conditions in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also said that due to change in weather, consumption of gas by domestic sector has increased manifolds, which have resulted in widening of already existing gap between demand and supply. "In order to ensure continuous gas supply to the domestic consumers, we are exercising load management in industrial sector where contractually, SNGPL is obliged to stop supply from 1st December to 28th February," he concluded.
