A division bench of Lahore High Court here Monday issued notice to Hijratullah on an appeal filed by Punjab prosecution department for enhancement of imprisonment awarded to him by an anti-terrorism court in Pir Makki bomb blast case. The bench, which had already admitted government's appeal for regular hearing, issued notice to Hijratullah to explain as to why he should not be convicted under section 4 of Explosive Substance Act 1908 and his 10-years sentence be enhanced in another case.
An anti terrorism court, on October 19, 2009, had awarded 10-year rigorous imprisonment to Hijratullah for attempting to destroy a military helicopter during a military operation against the terrorist attack on Police Training School Manawa. The trial court, however, had acquitted the accused from the charges of keeping a hand-grenade and a dagger.
