Illegal imprisonment: Home secretary's reply sought by December 10

07 Dec, 2010

Chief justice, Lahore High Court on Monday sought reply from home secretary by December 10 in a petition moved against keeping alleged terrorist Hijratullah in solitary confinement. The court passed this order on the petition filed by Zia Shahid Zaseer advocate, who pleaded that his client was acquitted by an anti-terrorism court but jail authorities were still treating him as a terrorist as he was being kept in solitary confinement.
He further said that no body was allowed to meet Hijratullah. He revealed that Punjab government has even disallowed him to meet his lawyers, as government wants to proceed appeal against Hijratullah ex-parte (one-sided). Zaseer requested the court to seek explanation from Punjab government regarding the case, and allow him to meet his client.
