LHC CJ hands over cheques to Punjab AG

Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) here Monday handed cheques amounting to rupees five million to Advocate General of Punjab to deliver the same to President Lahore Bar Association, one for the bar and other for health care of the bar members.
According to Registrar LHC Chief Justice Khawaja Muhammad Shairf repeatedly condemned the events, during which, despite clear instructions to the police gross excesses were committed by certain elements within the police while maintaining law and order, resulting in suffering of injuries and substantial damage to the furniture and installations at the civil court premises. The Chief Justice therefore sanctioned an amount of three million to cover the medical and health care expenses incurred or to be incurred by the bar members who suffered injuries and humiliation at the hands of the police.
