Major surgery units become operational in Cantt Hospital

For the first time in the history of the Cantonment General Hospital, Peshawar Cantt; major surgery units started functioning and many successful operations were carried out this week by doctors in different specialities, which is a very encouraging step for the people of Peshawar in general and Cantonment area in particular.
According to the public relations wing of the hospital, after affiliation of the Cantonment General Hospital with the Al-Razi Medical College, University Town, Peshawar, the hospital have the latest MRI, CT scan and other machinery required for X-ray and laboratories along with equipping it with five state-of-the-art operation theatres having latest medical equipments.
Now specialists in all the specialities are available in the hospital 24 hours. The patients' average daily capacity was raises to 700 and efforts are being made to increase the number to over 1000 patients daily. After the upgradation of hospital as a teaching hospital for Al-Razi Medical College, 70 percent of the total costs on the new establishments are born by the AMC. In future setting up of Nephrology, Cardiology, Dialysis and Urology etc units are also being established.
Before affiliation with the AMC only 20 to 25 manual tests would be carried out daily in the hospital without correct results, while now automatic machines have been installed and a state-of-the-art pathology laboratories have been established where all sort of medical test, including MRI, CT Scan, Hepatitis etc are being carried out.
The capacity of the hospital was upgraded and developed from 40 beds and two specialist doctors to a 500 beds with 40 doctors in all the necessary specialities, including surgery, medicines, gynaecology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, eye, ENT etc.
According to the Chief Executive of the AMC Nasar Khan latest PSR machine is being installed after which proper Hepatitis tests would also be done there with rates much lower than other laboratories throughout the country. A dental unit is also in planning and soon it would also start functioning in the hospital.
