11 Dec, 2010

Federal government has decided not to allow private ambulances in the capital due to the risk of terrorist activities and directed private ambulances to get registered immediately with the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration.
No ambulance would be allowed to operate in Islamabad without proper registration certificate, which can only be provided after thorough investigation, said Rehman Malik, Federal Minister for Interior, here on Friday. The minister, in a meeting held at interior ministry, ordered ICT administration and Islamabad police to ensure that no ambulance operates without having required documentation.
He also directed police and other law enforcement agencies to enhance security arrangements all over the country during Muharram-ul-Harram. He directed Chief Commissioner, Islamabad and Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take all possible measures to ensure peace and security during the month.
Malik was of the view that police has to play an effective role to bring kidnappings, street crimes and robberies to an end. "In case of any kidnapping or robbery, the SHO of the area police will be included in the FIR and DSP concerned will be suspended with immediate effect", he maintained.
