US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner was admitted to a Washington D.C. hospital Friday morning to undergo "a minor surgical procedure" to treat a kidney stone, his spokesman said on Friday. Geithner is expected to remain overnight at the George Washington University Hospital and return to work on Monday, the spokesman told reporters at the Treasury Department.
Geithner cancelled planned appearances on the Sunday talk shows of the three major broadcast networks.
