11 Dec, 2010

People belonging to different walks of life, including women folk, have strongly condemned government for negating its commitment that domestic consumers would be exempted from load-shedding of Sui gas. Load-shedding of Sui gas is multiplying miseries of domestic consumers in Sialkot.
Housewives are facing serious problems in making breakfast and cooking food for the family members due to non-availability of gas, while general public has been deprived of warm water for shower in a cold spell. On the other hand, local Sui gas office is reluctant to answer and attend telephone calls.
Also, owners of teashops and stalls are fleecing the people charging rupees20 per cup of tea in different parts of the city. They justify increase in price by saying that they have to make foodstuff and tea on gas cylinders purchased on high rates. Due to the load-shedding, the daily chore of common man has crippled adversely and domestic consumers continue to suffer.
Expressing views, they said that government is hoodwinking general public through its hollow slogans and has failed to address the core issues. They further said that provision of basic facilities such as gas, electricity and water is the responsibility of the state but government, with its negligence and poor policies, is pushing the nation to the stone-age.
They said that government is committing serious human rights violations by depriving the people from their due rights, and appealed Chief Justice of Pakistan to take suo motu notice on the matter. They also said petroleum minister should resign immediately for delivering a poor performance.
