Germany, France and Poland are calling for increased co-operation between the European Union and Nato on security and defence issues. In a letter obtained by The Associated Press and signed by the three nations' foreign and defence ministers, they call for "a fresh impetus to European security and defence policy" in co-operation with Nato.
The letter was sent to EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton last week. It is to be presented to the foreign ministers of the other 24 European Union members in Brussels later Monday.
