CDGK finalises arrangements for Ashura

City District Government Karachi (CDGK) has finalised arrangements for Ashura, as control of surveillance cameras and other resources including ambulances with staff and the charge of Control Room in civic center and DCO Camp Office have been handed over to Rangers, while "Emergency Resources Pool" with heavy machinery and trained staff has also been established for rescue services here on Tuesday.
According to the details, 20 water tankers, 20 fire tenders, 15 ambulances, streetlights repairing vehicles with officers and essential services staff have been provided to Rangers to meet emergency situation as per the requirements. City government has also setup an emergency resources pool in Kashmir Road Sports Complex, where heavy machinery including dumpers, loaders, Fire Brigade, snorkel, ambulances with staff trained in urban search would also be available for rescue operation.
Concrete barriers have also been erected around all Imam Barghas to ensure the security while searching work would also be performed by City Wardens. Addressing a press conference at DCO Camp Office on Tuesday, Fazlur Rehman, Administrator Karachi, said that these resources had been put under the control of Rangers from 7th Muharram to 11 Muharram. The resources have been handed over to Rangers so these could be used according to the requirements and in more effective way in case of any emergency, he added.
Fazlur Rehman said that more than 80 surveillance cameras would be used for thorough monitoring of city while the control room in civic center and DCO Camp Office has also been handed over to Rangers where senior officers would be deputed. Continuous contact with CPO Control Room would also be made to ensure effective co-ordination and response.
He said that they were in constant contact with Governor Sindh Dr lshrat-ul-Ebad Khan, Provincial Ministers Raza Haroon and Abdul Haseeb. To a question he said that Karachi Electric Supply Company was a private utility and not under CDGK's control, however, he said that they were in touch with KESC.
Appreciating the performance of town administrations, he said that they had demonstrated best performance despite having limited resources and budget. EDO Municipal Services Masood Alam and Director Media Management Bashir Saduzai were also present on this occasion.
