Islamabad Police performance: 120 terrorists, handlers nabbed, many terrorist plots foiled

Islamabad Police have nabbed 120 terrorists and their handlers during the year and foiled many terrorist plots planned for Federal Capital. This was stated by Kaleem Imam Inspector General of Police (IGP) here on Tuesday, adding that we are trying our level best to improve policing system, making every officer responsible for accomplishing his duties.
He assigned the senior police officials the responsibility to monitor security arrangements in their respective areas, while special patrolling plan has been chalked out to curb the crime. Making a rational decision, the IGP Islamabad has ordered police squads escorting the IGP, DIGs and SSPs to patrol in the city after dropping the officers to their respective offices or homes.
With the commitment to ensure peace and tranquility during Muharram-ul-Haram, all the organs of Islamabad Police were made active aimed at securing the Capital, said a spokesman of Islamabad Police on Tuesday. He said that the checking at entry and exit points and police pickets within city where teams of Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) are conducting regular visits to brief the deployed cops for effective surveillance.
Director BDS Major Tabassum Zareef (Retd) said that three bomb disposal squads each comprising ten officials conduct the visit of police pickets and guide the deployed policemen as how to conduct checking of suspected persons or vehicles, identify the explosive material or detect improvised explosive devices.
Though policing is a very tough job, at the same time it is a service to the mankind and the nation providing them safety and a sense of security, said Senior Superintendent of Police Islamabad Tahir Alam Khan. He said that with the same objective, Islamabad police is endeavouring to ensure effective security arrangements in the city. A special strategy has been evolved to further tighten the security of the metropolitan, he added.
Vehicles have been provided to police Commandos for patrolling in sensitive areas of G-6, G-9, I-9, I-10, Tarlai, Shah Allah Dita, Bari Imam (Nurpur Shahan) and other sensitive areas during Muharram, he said. Policemen have been asked to patrol in their respective areas under patrolling plan and keep vigilance against suspects to avert any untoward incident. He said Quick Response Unit has been also constituted to immediately respond in case of any emergency and ensure assistance to the citizens.
