The Australian dollar lost some of its shine against its US counterpart on Wednesday, having traded as high as $1.0030 overnight, as a surge in US Treasury yields helped underpin the greenback. The Aussie last traded at $0.9935 versus $0.9977 late in New York, with immediate resistance seen at $1.0030. Support levels are pegged at $0.9896, and then $0.9823.
The Aussie was also off highs against the yen and sterling. The pound, having plumbed a 25-year low around A$1.5736 overnight, was last at A$1.5828. Against the yen, the Aussie slipped from a seven-month high of 83.69 yen set overnight to 83.33. The Aussie hit a fresh decade-high against the kiwi at NZ$1.3292, before easing To NZ$1.3270, little changed on the day.
