FPCCI elections: Businessmen Panel convenes important meeting on December 20

Businessmen Panel (BP) has convened an important meeting here of its group on December 20 to finalise candidates for Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) elections scheduled for December 29. BP chairman Tariq Sayeed will preside over the meeting of his group.
The participants of the meeting will be from Islamabad, Azad Kashmir and all four provinces. The group will also consider the prevailing law and order and economic situation. The group will announce its candidates the same evening in Islamabad.
BP is winning FPCCI elections for having overwhelming majority in businessmen community. Its rival group Businessmen Forum (BF) lost four elections of FPCCI in a row and BP leadership is not expecting any considerable resistance from the rival group of Senator Ilyas Bilour. BP acting chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik who is running election campaign for his group to make sure that his group maintains vast majority in the elections.
Talking to Business Recorder on Thursday Iftikhar Ali Malik said BP is comfortable and its going to win upcoming elections of FPCCI scheduled for December 29. Polling for FPCCI elections will be held in Karachi and general body will meet in Karachi on December 30. Sitting President Sultan Chawla will retire as FPCCI president after playing his inning. The new FPCCI body will take oath in the first week of January. FPCCI is Pakistan's apex trade body, which plays a very vital role in giving suggestions to the government in economic policy-making.
