A Dubai court on Sunday sentenced a Briton charged with killing his South African ex-lover to life in prison, the lawyer for the victim's family told AFP on Sunday. "The Dubai Court of Appeals sentenced Mark Arnold to life in prison which equals 25 years" in the United Arab Emirates, said Hussain al-Jaziri, the lawyer for relatives of Kelly Winter.
Jaziri said the Court of Appeals has overturned the verdict issued by the Court of First Instance on June 7 in which Arnold, 42, was found guilty of first degree homicide and jailed for 15 years.
Winter's family "now want from Arnold to say where their daughter's body is," said Jaziri.
Winter, 36, disappeared in August 2008 following a quarrel with Arnold. Prosecutors charged him with clubbing her to death with a baseball bat and dumping her body in the sea with weights attached. He was spared the death penalty because the body was never found.
