Two teenage girls were raped by unknown accused after they were kidnapped from the limits of Darakhshan police station late Sunday night. According to police sources, Sonia and Kiran Abdullah, who were on the way from a party to home located in Khayaban-e-Qasim, Phase VIII, in a car bearing Reg. number ANQ-788 at around 2:30 am, were kidnapped by unknown men. The accused took them to some unknown place, where they were raped.
Later, the accused threw the girls in Khayaban-e-Qasim in the wee hours of Monday and managed to flee, they said. Both the victims reached police station to register FIR against the unknown accused, from where they were sent to hospital for medical examination. According to Civil Hospital sources, MLO Civil Hospital Dr Summaya examined Kiran and confirmed the incident while Sonia declined to be examined.
Police registered FIR No 585/10 against the unknown culprits on the complaint of Kiran, who resides with her boyfriend, Muzahir, in DHA Phase II. When contacted a high ranking police officer wishing anonymity said that apparently the girls had been raped due to some personnel dispute, as both of them were constantly changing their statements.
He said that it seemed both the girls know the culprits but were not disclosing their names. He said these girls lodged FIR because of media pressure but now they are asking police to close the case. According to their statement, three men wearing Shalwar Kameez kidnapped them and sexually assaulted and threw them in the limits of Darakhshan police station.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah took serious notice of the said incident and directed Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) to submit a report in this regard immediately. He also ordered the CCPO to make all-out efforts to arrest the culprits and take them to task. Similarly, Adviser to CM on Information Sharmila Farooqi has also assured the victims that they would be provided justice.
