The body of Pakistan Army officer Major Ishaq, who embraced martyrdom during an operation in Dera Ismail Khan (D.I.) Khan on Wednesday, has been sent to his hometown (Lahore) for burial on Thursday morning.
Family and friends have started gathering at the house of Major Ishaq in Wapda Town. The funeral prayer will be performed at Ayub Stadium. Afterwards, he will be laid to rest at Cavalry Ground Army Graveyard with all salute, local media reported.
The 28-year-old Major Ishaq belonged to Khushab, Punjab and has left behind a widow and an infant.
The major was killed in an exchange of fire with terrorists in D.I. Khan while conducting a search operation, Inter-Services Public Relations Director-General Major General Asif Ghafoor revealed on Twitter.
On Wednesday, Chief of Army Staff Qamar Jawed Bajwa and other army officials attended the funeral prayers of the martyred officer. Bajwa paid rich tribute to Major Ishaq and his family for their supreme sacrifice.
