More than 4,000 police officials will perform their duties on the eve of Christmas to encounter the threat of terrorism in the provincial metropolis, as additional force has been deputed at the entry and exit points of the city. Police commandos have been deputed at all churches of the city.
Reverend Dr Majeed Ayble, head of a 15-member delegation of Christians, told media after holding meeting with police officials, here on Thursday. He said special raiding teams have been constituted to take stern action against the revellers and persons involved in aerial firing and one-wheeling on the eve of Christmas. Police teams have also been constituted to collect information about drug pushers, illicit arms carriers, bootleggers and indigenous alcoholic beverage units being run in city peripheries and take prompt action against them.
Meanwhile, CCPO has directed officers to gather information about such places where new year functions were going to be held, so that immediate action could be taken against persons involved in fireworks, one-wheeling and aerial firing. He warned that nobody would be allowed to display arms on these occasions. Muhammad Aslam Tareen directed the Divisional SPs to personally monitor the performance of the force under their command and submit performance report on daily basis.
