Advisor to Sindh Chief Minister for Information, Sharmila Farooqui has said that Pakistan was passing through bad phase due to inflation and huge devastation caused by floods. She said that bringing Reform General Sales Tax (RGST) and expansion in tax net was the only solution to steer the country out of crisis and put it on the track of development.
She was talking to the journalists of Thatta Press Club at Village Lakha Dino Jat near Jati, District Thatta where she distributed 4000 blankets among the flood-affected people. Responding to a question about high prices, Farooqui said that they realised that prices of kitchen items had been increased but when they talk to implement RGST, expansion in tax net and documentation of Pak economy, the opponents create hurdles only to serve their political motives.
She said that it was the ground reality that they had to make their house in order first instead of depending on the World Bank, IMF or other donor agencies. They had to sacrifice for long-term benefits of the nation and leaders of other political parties must support the economic reforms of the PPP in the interest of common man.
