China's industrial output is likely to grow about 15 percent in 2010 compared with the previous year, state media on Saturday quoted the country's industry minister as saying. Minister Li Yizhong made the comments at a government meeting in Beijing, Xinhua news agency reported. It did not elaborate.
Industrial output rose 13.3 percent in the year to November. Economic growth has slowed a touch in the second half of the year, but GDP is still on course to rise about 10 percent this year. Li added that next year the government would continue to control strictly the export of highly-energy intensive, highly-polluting and natural resource products to ensure Chinese exports were high quality, and value-added.
The government would also encourage qualified companies to look abroad for acquisitions or move manufacturing overseas, and push Chinese firms to import high-technology and management experience, Li said.
