Member National Assembly of Muslim League-N (PML-N), Hamza Shahbaz Sharif has said that promotion of education is essential for elimination of terrorism and other problems. He said that democracy would have to be strengthened for continuity of development process.
He was addressing a symposium in connection with the 150th anniversary of King Edward Medical University Lahore, here on Sunday. Secretary Health Punjab Fawad Hassan Fawad, Vice Chancellor of KEMU Professor Asad Aslam Khan, and others also addressed the function.
Hamza Shahbaz said that Punjab government provided relief assistance of Rs 20,000 per family to the flood victims through Watan Cards and the government allocated 10 billion rupees for this purpose due to which it faced shortage of financial resources for increasing salaries of doctors and nurses. However, he said, as soon as the funds became available increase in the salaries of doctors and paramedical staff will be announced. Hamza Shahbaz on behalf of Chief Minister announced provision of 10-acre land and fifty million rupees for the construction of campuses of KEMU.
He underlined the need that the national leadership should solve the problems of the youth and mobilise them for national progress and development.. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq MNA, former finance minister Sartaj Aziz besides teachers and students of the university were present on the occasion.
