About 90 people from various localities of Quetta city have been nabbed following the attack on the police mobile team in which one police official was killed and seven others were injured. This was stated by the DIG operations Hamid Shakeel during a press conference held at CCPO office on Sunday.
"Following the attack on police mobile, we detained about 90 people, of them some had been released after the initial interrogation, while some suspects are being interrogated, DIG said.
He added that acting on the information received from the suspects in police custody, team of law enforcement agencies including ATF raided a house situated on Qambrani Road. Sensing the situation the inmates started firing at the law enforcers. However, with prudent and concerted strategy the alleged criminals were disarmed and arrested with unauthorised arms and ammunitions.
To a question, DIG revealed that over 70 groups involved in kidnapping for ransom were operational in Quetta city. Many groups have been busted and efforts are afoot to wash out the remaining ones. People who are released by the abductors don't cooperate with the Police, which is the main cause of slow progress in this connection, he deplored.
