'PML-N not in favour of mid-term elections'

01 Jan, 2011

Leader Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has said his party was neither in favour of mid-term elections nor it will support any move to topple the coalition government headed by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani.
He said that present government and Assemblies should complete their constitutional term. Talking to newsmen here on Friday he said demands of an in-house change could damage democracy. He categorically said replacement of the prime minister was not a good option at this stage so the PML-N would not support or launch any such move against him in the present scenario.
He abhorred the attacks on Mutahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) by the Muslim League leaders and said that such unhealthy and anti democracy should not be opted. Javed Hashmi said that politicians should not provoke the masses based on language, region, caste and religion and said, "politicians should avoid such abusive language as they were exposing themselves in front of the masses."
