01 Jan, 2011

Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General, Liaquat Baloch, has condemned the fresh raise in POL prices and said the government was looting the public and inviting trouble for itself. In a statement here on Friday, he said such imprudent decisions of the government at a time when its allies were falling apart would only add to the public hatred for the rulers and hasten their downfall.
Liaquat Baloch said that the country was facing acute shortage of gas and electricity. Gas supply for households was negligible whereas hundreds of factories had been closed and workers had been left unemployed. The industrial wheel had been stopped and industrial production had come down significantly. Liaquat Baloch said that the countrywide shutdown on the Blasphemy issue had proved that the entire nation was united so far as the Holy Prophet's sanctity was concerned and the rulers should not dare to amend the Blasphemy law under foreign pressure.
Deputy Secretary General, JI Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha said that the protection of the Holy Prophet's sanctity was an article of faith with every believer and if the rulers attempted to amend the Blasphemy law to please their foreign master, they would be thrown out of power.-PR
