Kashmiris observing 'self-determination day' today

05 Jan, 2011

Kashmiris on both sides of Line of Control and across the world will observe 'right of self-determination day' on Wednesday to remind the world that the UN resolutions on Kashmir have not yet been implemented despite a lapse of more than six decades.
Speakers at a seminar held in this connection, in occupied Srinagar on Tuesday, said the unparalleled sacrifices of Kashmiris to secure their inalienable right (of self determination) would not be allowed to go wasted, said Kashmir Media Service. The seminar was organised by All Parties Hurriyet Conference and the speakers included Hurriyet Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Abdullah Tari, Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and Dr Javed Iqbal.
A resolution passed on the occasion said that the Kashmiris are masters of their destiny and would continue their indigenous struggle. Meanwhile, Veteran Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Syed Ali Gilani, in a letter to the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon urged him to call an immediate session of the Security Council and pass an additional resolution to press India to hold plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir.
