Railways 'drive against ticket-less travelling' launched

The Pakistan Railways, Karachi Division, has launched a vigorous campaign against ticket-less travelling. An official said on Wednesday the campaign had been initiated on the directive of Divisional Superintendent Karachi, Aftab Ahmed Memon.
It was pointed out that in December 2010 the Railway officials caught 18,032 passengers travelling without ticket and Rs 7.61 million recovered from them as fare and fine. A special drive was also launched against this menace on branch sections of Hyderabad-Mirpurkhas and Hyderabad-Badin. During raids carried out between December 21 and 31, some 1,786 passengers were apprehended at Karachi-Mirpurkhas section and Rs 121,510 recovered from them as fare and fine.
