A caravan of 500 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) families here on Thursday reached their native town Chagmalie from Tank and DI Khan districts in second phase of repatriation plan under tight security arrangements by government.
Political Agent South Waziristan, Atifur Rehman informed that second phase of repatriation started from January 5 and will continue for three days where IDPs would be facilitated to return to their hometowns in South Waziristan.
Every displaced families are being given Rs 25,000, food and other necessary goods besides tents.
IDPs Gul Zaman and Faroz Jan highly appreciated the government security arrangements and expressed their happiness coming back to their hometowns. The Political Agent Atifur Rehman said that completion of return process of IDP will take seven to eight months. He said electricity, water, education and health schemes are being restored for facilitation of people. He appreciated the co-operation of army, civil administration of DI Khan, Tanks district and tribesmen.
