The inquiry committee constituted by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to probe the corruption in consulting engineers companies has started work headed by a former supreme court judge. This committee also includes a member from Ministry of Finance, Planning and Development, Industries and Production, officers of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Intelligence Bureau (IB).
The purpose to establish this committee is to abolish the menace of corruption from various consulting engineering companies working as consultant on mega development projects all over Pakistan. After constitution of committee an emergency meeting of investigation committee was held here, attended by Director FIA and Director Awareness and Prevention, member Financial Crimes Investigation Wing, Director Operations engineering and a member of national accountability bureau.
Earlier, FIA and Provincial Anti-corruption Establishment had arrested four main accused engineers of different consulting engineers. The engineers include Muhammad Raees Haider, Aman ullah, Quantity surveyor, Muhammad Naseeruddin Chief resident engineer, Riaz Hussain. The local police had earlier registered two cases in Karachi and Hyderabad and filed report u/s 173 Cr P C of the above cases in the court.
FIA conducted further investigation and arrested accused Nadeem Ahmed and submitted interim challan in reference No 3/2011 against him. FIA had also done some preliminary inquiry in Karachi, Hyderabad, Lahore and Quetta on various projects to clarify and sent a report on its findings and some corrupt elements would be arrested within 15 days of the launch of an operation against consulting engineers involved in corruption and their supervision staff working on different mega projects.
