The government should take pragmatic measures to eradicate gender disparity in skill development and employment opportunities throughout the country as access to education and training for all men and women is a future investment for economic development and personal growth.
These views were expressed by participants of a workshop on "Gender Disparity in Skills Development and Employment Opportunities" organised by International Labour Organisation (IL0) and Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) at Pakistan Readymade Garments Technical Training Institute (PRGTTI). The participants were invited from NAVTEC, TEVTA, WBIC, NPO, PRGMEA, SGS and the Literacy Department.
Kamran Yousuf Sandu, Principal of PRGTTI while addressing the participants said that in countless cases, both young women and men are deprived of quality education and training. However, women generally tend to have less attractive choices available in the labour market, he added.
