13 Jan, 2011

Parliamentary Kashmir Committee on Wednesday expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in highlighting decades-old Kashmir dispute effectively at international level. The committee, which met with its chairman Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman in the Parliament House, urged the entire nation to observe the forthcoming Solidarity Day on February 5 with fervour and enthusiasm.
Later briefing reporters about the meeting, Maulana Fazl ur Rahman regretted that the long-standing Kashmir dispute has lost its importance due to government's inefficiency in pleading its case at international level effectively. He said that the committee expressed dissatisfaction over the steps being taken by the government for the meaningful resolution of the long-awaited issue.
The government has given secondary status to the outstanding issue by shifting its focus to the war on terror fighting along Pak-Afghan border, which is increasing sense of loneliness among Kashmiri people, he added. Announcing to celebrate Kashmir Solidarity Day with fervour and enthusiasm, Fazal also called upon all the political forces, provincial governments, social, religious and youth organisations, civil society and media to hold various programmes across the country aimed at giving a strong message to the world that the entire nation stands should to shoulder with their Kashmiri brethren in their just struggle for self-determination.
The Kashmir Committee reiterated full support for the people of the Occupied Kashmir in their struggle for freedom from India. It also called upon the government to accord top most priority to the Kashmir issue to ensure its earliest resolution and observed that delay in this regard would be harmful.
The Committee also urged the Foreign Office not to engage in any useless dialogue with India in regard to Kashmir issue. The Kashmir Committee decided to hold its meetings at provincial level to take the provincial leadership on board. The Committee decided to hold a National Conference on Kashmir, wherein the top political leadership of the country will be invited.
Fazl said that a sub-committee comprising Makhdoom Mohammad Amin Fahim, as its convenor and Nawab Muhammad Yusuf Talpur, Dr Attiya Inayatullah, Engr Khurram Dastagir Khan, MNA Mir Amer Ali Khan Magsi and Abdul Waseem to give final touch to the programs being held on Solidarity Day.
