More than 600 industrial units remained closed on sixth consecutive day on Wednesday, due to six days gas loadshedding in Faisalabad. People from various parts of the city took out processions against gas loadshedding and low gas pressure. Major protest was taken out at Sheikhupura road, where women and children blocked the road and burnt tyers and raised slogans against the PPP leaders.
Another demonstration was staged at Jhang road, where gas is not available for the last 15 days. Hundreds of industrial workers staged demonstrations outside the closed factories and raised slogans against the government and speakers alleged that the rulers are snatching their Roti, Kapra and Makan and nothing has been done for labour class so far. Addressing the meeting, Chaudhry Salamat Ali, Chairman, Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PHMEA) North Zone said that the international buyers were getting orders from rival countries and nobody supports our textile industry to make Pakistan prosperous. To save industry from disaster due to continuous gas loadshedding, he added and appealed to government to honour commitment for continuous supply to textile industry for 5 days a week on regular basis to save the industry before its destruction.
