Institute of Space Technology (IST) set held a blood donation camp that saw the university's students and staff line up at the center set up for this purpose in co-operation with Armed Forces Institute of Transfusion (AFIT). The facility was equipped with all the technical requirements to make the process a success.
According to the Students Affairs Dept, the effort is meant to encourage students to meet their responsibilities as good citizens and to be active participants in the extra-curricular activities, especially those of humanitarian and social nature. Engr Imran Rehman, Vice Chancellor, IST added: "The campaign falls within the university's strategy and its pioneering role in serving the local community and meeting their needs".
A large number of students, officials of IST and SUPARCO donated blood on the occasion. Students were in high spirits, which was quite evident from the turnout at the donation center. Students expressed their willingness to contribute in the healthy activity to thwart the unhealthy professional blood donors.
The IST, is a public sector university, has had a presence in Islamabad since 2002. The university seeks to produce highly qualified Engineering graduates. Currently, the university comprises three faculties: Aerospace Engineering, Communication System and Material Sciences & Engineering.-PR
