The Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) has reacted strongly to stabbing to death of Justice Javed Iqbal's parents, terming it as ruthless murder and vowed not to tolerate such incidents in future. Talking to journalists on Wednesday, outside Supreme Court, SCBA president Asma Jehangir said, "The stabbing ... is brutal and we hope the government must take necessary action. We will not tolerate it anymore".
The parents of Justice Javed Iqbal, a senior judge of the Supreme Court, were found murdered under mysterious circumstances in their house near Cavalry Ground on Tuesday night in Lahore. Asma said that they would closely monitor the investigation process of killing of Justice Iqbal's parents and its every aspect as the government had ordered an inquiry into the tragic incident.
The SCBA president also maintained that there were certain speculations about the tragic incident, which could not be ruled out. She said that SCBA has demanded the government to thoroughly probe the matter otherwise the legal fraternity will take to the streets. She also called for robust investigation into the tragic incident to eradicate crimes and said that due to absence of strong system in the country, the crime ratio has increased manifold.
